MONTGOMERY GI BILL ® Active Duty** – Chapter 30

The Montgomery GI Bill ® Active Duty (MGIB), also known as Chapter 30, is a Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefit program for eligible service members and veterans. The MGIB provides up to thirty-six months of benefits and generally can be used within ten years from the date of release from active duty.

Dependents Education Assistance** – Chapter 35
Who- Benefit is used by dependent children and dependent spouse
What- Up to 36 months of financial assistance for educational pursuit
When- The dependent children will use this benefit between the ages of 18-26 years of old and is valid for 10 years. The dependent spouse can use this benefit up to 20 years after they become available.
Where- Can be used at approved programs to include colleges, vocational/technical schools, correspondence courses apprenticeships/ on-the-job training, and tech training.
MGIB Selective Reserve** – Chapter 1606
Who- Benefit is used by Veterans that served in the Selected Reserves/National Guard.
What- Up to 36 months of financial assistance for educational pursuit
When- The Veteran has a 6-year obligation of service required to be eligible for this benefit.
Where- Can be used at approved programs to include colleges, vocational/technical schools, correspondence courses apprenticeships/on-the-job training, flight training, and tech training.
Post 9/11 GI BILL®* – Chapter 33
Who- Veterans honorably discharged , who served at least 90 days active duty.
What- Up to 36 months of financial assistance for educational pursuit. Benefit includes a stipend Cost of Living allowance and payment for the educational program which is determined by the amount of time of service on active duty.
When- The Veteran served on active duty on or after 9/11/2001. Veterans that served after 1/1/2013, there is no expiration date for this benefit
Where- Can be used at approved programs to include colleges, vocational/technical schools, correspondence courses apprenticeships/on-the-job training, flight training, and tech training.
Veterans Readiness & Employment* – Chapter 31
Who- Veterans honorably discharged that have received a disability rating of 20% or higher
What- Veterans will receive up to 36 months of financial assistance for education pursuit
When- Veteran would apply for this benefit through the Veterans Administration
Where- This program will be approved at the Veterans Administration
Veterans Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP)*
Who- Veterans age 22-66, must be unemployed due to COVID-19 and may not be receiving unemployment or eligible for any other VA education benefits.
What- Education and training approved under the GI BILL® that leads to high demand jobs. This includes up to 12 months of tuition and fees, along with a monthly housing stipend.
When- Current program set to cease accepting new applicants on December 11, 2022, or when the $3.8M funding limit has been reached.
Where- Can be used at approved GI BILL® schools/institutions
